World Trade Organisation Acknowledges Nomination Of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala

After being nominated for the position of the Director General of the World Trade Organization by President Muhammadu Buhari, The World Trade Organisation (WTO) has acknowledged the nomination of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, as one of the candidates vying for the position of the DG of the organization.

The World Trade Organization took to Twitter to acknowlege her nomination on Tuesday, June 9, 2020. 
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Chair of the Board of Gavi and Nigeria’s former Finance Minister, has been nominated by Nigeria as a candidate for the post of WTO Director-General.
President Buhari had nominated Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as a suitable replacement for the current WTO Director-General, Roberto Azevêdo, who announced he will be stepping down by the end of August 2020.
